​​Scope of Work

Renovation of an existing 12,000 s.f. classroom space in the lower level of a synagogue for 188 children with exterior playground space.

​​Design Approach

Inspired by Piet Mondrian - new storefront windows with colored glass and integrated benches were added to each classroom in the existing concrete block walls.  The concept was derived from the existing jalousie windows which remained and were highlighted.  The entire scheme was updated with neutral colors and the school’s red accent color. Rolling screens mounted in the ceiling subdivide the classrooms allowing for multiple areas of play and learning.
